CELEBRITY BUMP WATCH

BY ADRIENNE BISCONTIN EDITOR AT STYLISH BUMP

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again... Style is completely subjective; what one girl likes another girl won’t. Pregnancy style is even trickier, because what looks good on one bump, may not necessarily suit another – every bump is different. And thank goodness for that!

Looking stylish and feeling comfortable when you’re pregnant can be tricky, and it changes during your pregnancy. What suits you in your first and second trimester may not be possible in those final months.

With the recent celebrity boom in pregnancies, bump watch at Stylish Bump has never been busier! It’s so fun to see what the celebs are wearing during their pregnancy, and how we can steal some of their bump styles – there’s nothing ‘mumsy’ about any of these mamas! With some of our favourite mamas to-be including Olivia Wilde and Blake Lively now expecting their second babies, it will be great to see how (and if) they dress differently this time around.

Let’s look at some of the latest pregnant celebrities to help inspire your bump style.

Olivia Wilde

After announcing in mid-April that she was pregnant with her second baby with the cutest ‘matching baby bumps’ photo with 19 month old son Otis, Olivia Wilde is now in her second trimester. Activist, environmentalist, TV and film actress, Olivia Wilde and actor husband Jason Sudekis are often seen out and about with their young son, with Olivia favouring comfortable maternity jeans by JBrand, lots of black and lots of leather. Olivia wore lots of black maxi dresses, maternity jeans and over-sized t-shirts during her first pregnancy, and so far this one is looking much the same. Olivia looked stunning in custom-made, black studded Michael Kors gown to the recent Met Gala, and we can’t wait to see more of her bump style before number 2 arrives around October.

Emily Blunt

Also expecting her second baby, film actress Emily Blunt recently joined the promotional tour for her latest film ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War’ wearing lots of feminine designer dresses, including Valentino. She also joined pregnant friend Olivia Wilde wearing a custom-made, sparkly blue Michael Kors gown to the Met Gala. So far, no ‘maternity wear’ in sight!. When not on-duty, Emily can be seen out and about with one a half year old daughter Hazel wearing black dresses, maternity jeans or leggings and the occasional jumpsuit – comfortable but always stylish.

Megan Fox

The TV and film actress surprised all her fans a month ago by attending CinemaCon wearing a fitted dress that revealed her baby bump. Reportedly now back with on-again-off-again husband Brian Austin Green, the couple are expecting their third baby together. So far Megan has worn mostly maxi dresses in the Californian sun, and getting the all-important Vitamin D on a recent babymoon to Hawaii. Maxi dresses are a pregnancy staple because you don’t have to buy maternity, they feel so comfortable and look so stylish – plus you’ll get to wear them again and again after bub arrives.

Blake Lively

After one of the most stylish pregnancies of 2014 it was with huge excitement that we reported on Blake Lively’s second pregnancy a few weeks back. While her first appearance at the Met Gala had us squinting to see any sign of a baby bump, at the 69th Cannes Film Festival currently wrapping up in the South of France Blake has promoted two films and a stylish pregnancy all at once. Confidently wearing mostly fitted designer outfits, Blake has cranked up the style so far this pregnancy, choosing bright colours and eye catching dresses and jumpsuits. At around four months pregnant, Blake wore multiple frocks by Atelier Versace who custom-fitted her gowns to flatter her growing shape. I love that these dresses accentuate her figure; styled with simple hair and make-up to focus on her stunning shape. The showstopper was the cornflour blue Atelier Versace gown with silver thread and a five metre train Blake wore to the ‘BFG’ premiere. The best part? She’s not even halfway through her pregnancy, so we can’t wait to see more before a little brother or sister for 19 month old daughter James arrives around October.

Liv Tyler

Due any day with her third baby, Liv Tyler has stuck to a mostly black, comfortable New York style this pregnancy. Going from designer dresses to everyday streetwear with such class, Liv’s no fuss maternity style looks effortless and comfortable. Her second pregnancy in two years, (Liv and fiancé Dave Gardner have a son, Sailor, 13 months) Liv knows what suits her, often seen around New York on the school-run with 12 year old son Milo (from a previous relationship) wearing black leggings or tights with ballet flats, knee-high flat boots and dresses with warm coats. Liv’s just as likely to look fabulous in a frock, looking glamorous during awards season wearing friend Stella McCartney’s stylish custom-made designs accentuating her gorgeous bump.

Chrissy Teigen

And lastly, there can’t be a bumpwatch without including the newest celebrity mama, Chrissy Teigen. While baby Luna Simone with husband John Legend is now one month old, her stylish mama Chrissy’s bump style was so fabulous, and so inspiring, it’s well worth looking at again. After friend Kim Kardashian told her to “go stretchy” the supermodel did just that; sticking to a style that suited her and was obviously comfortable. Stylish dresses teamed with long cardigans, coats and duster jackets, skirts over her bump, distressed shorts and jeans and couture gowns – all with her favourite stiletto heels – Chrissy looked stylish, elegant and most of all, happy during her first pregnancy.
