INTERVIEW| KRISTEN TAEKMAN

hires-1103628-IMG_8746_V1OK, confession time: my guilty pleasure is watching the Real Housewives- and New York is my absolute fave. Model mama Kristen Taekman has certainly left her mark in her debut series. The international model, who has graced the pages of Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, now resides in Tribeca with her husband Josh, five-year-old Cash and two-year-old Kingsley. Kristen is a sassy, stylish, straight-talker with a bazaar obsession with Elvis, but what I admire the most is how open and honest she has been with the challenges of her relationship. Her issues and insecurities are not uncommon amongst many couples and women struggling to adjust to the new dynamic of becoming a stay at home mama.

What better way to cap off my NYC stint, than an interview with my fave housie. Enjoy xo

How would you describe your day to day style? Has it changed since becoming a mother?

I would describe my style as mommy-chic. I definitely want clothes I can move in. Yes, my style has changes since becoming a mommy--I wear more flats and easy pieces I can just throw on quickly.

What do you find the most challenging aspect of motherhood?

Sleepless nights and having to get up so darn early!! Basically, the selflessness of having kids.

What do you find the most rewarding?

Their unconditional love for you. I absolutely love the conversations I have with my 6 year old and the snuggles with my 2 year old in the mornings!

What is your most treasured moment with your children to date?

This is a hard one! I think when they started school. You are so proud and sad all in one huge emotion. I was so proud that they are getting so big, but at the same time, so sad that they are growing up!

How has being on RHONY has impacted your family- both positively and/or negatively?

On the positive, we have gotten to travel and do a bunch of fun things that we normally wouldn't do all together as a family! On the negative.. hmmmm not being able to leave the house anymore without make up? Haha! No, it probable has been seeing my husband and I argue. It has been a real eye opener for us. This is a negative that we are turning into a positive, and we have come a long way and have fixed a lot of things!

What is the best thing about living in NYC with kids

Everything is so convenient and accessible! You have everything that you could possible imagine in a 5 block radius. The culture that my kids are exposed to in their first few years is more than some people will experience in a lifetime!

What is your favorite thing to do as a family?

My family loves road trips! We will all get in the car on a Sunday and drive over one of the bridges to venture out of the city! That, and ordering Chinese on a Sunday night! ;)

You are in fantastic shape. What do you do to look after yourself?

I drink lots of water and do JCORE! I do the Body Back DVD 20-minute workout with Jay Cardiello featuring MYSELF, where you can find on jcorebody.com!

What is the first thing you do when you get to have some "me time"?

I literally just sit on the couch and look out the window or flip through the TV channels. This doesn’t happen much!

If you can give some advice to future mum-to-be's, what would it be?

Don't sweat the small stuff (even though that’s impossible) and TRUST YOUR MOMMY INSTINCT!! Most Importantly, Momma always knows best!
