LABEL LOVE: KALLIO NYC

Brooklyn based children’s label KALLIO NYC is truly something special. KALLIO takes locally sourced vintage men’s clothing and up-cycles them to beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind, playful pieces for babies & children. Each item is sorted and re-sewn in ethical factories in the USA. Nothing is wasted. What I love the most about this concept is that not only does it promote the idea that things should continue as opposed to being disposed of, but each piece has a story from a previous generation and is then re-imagined for the modern child. The cycle continues.

After years of working in concept and apparel design, founder Karina Kallio was shocked at just how much waste was in the industry. She set out to create a label that not only addressed this issue, but also raised awareness. The result is a "concious kid's brand that is fun, stylish and unexpected, that kids cab play hard in, without being hard on the environment."
