THE MINI STYLE EDIT

BY KELLY MÜLLER

After spending the most part of her life to date in a nappy and a singlet (thank you endless Sydney summer), I scrambled to get my daughter sorted for her winter wardrobe.

When it comes to dressing Sunny, we generally keep to a pretty neutral palette. Both my husband and I have a tendency for monochrome so it’s only natural that we are drawn to the same vibe for our daughter, plus it saves so much time dressing her in the morning – with a tightly curated colour palette, I don’t ever have to worry whether things will match, and it’s the little things like this that make all the difference in a busy mama’s life!

Here I share a few of my must haves, nice to haves and don’t tell the hubby but I had to have it.

THE BASICS

You really can’t go wrong with Target when it comes to leggings, onesies and long sleeved tees. I stocked up on black, white and grey leggings, long sleeved bodysuits and singlets as well as their new thermal tshirts. I’m not going to lie, these essentials sell out fast, so you have to constantly check back online to see whether new stock has arrived – or, if you’re brave, regularly visit your local Westfield.

An essential in any kids’ wardrobe, Bonds Wondersuits are on high rotation in our household. We use them as pajamas but the prints are so wearable there are days I chuck a jumper or jacket over the top and we’re on our way.

THE LAYERS

I love supporting small Australian and New Zealand brands and thanks to Instagram, I’m introduced to new brands constantly. A few current faves are Mad About Mini, Frankie Jones the Label and Thomas Pie. These brands use only organic cotton, are owned by busy mums and are handmade with love. I picked up the cutest little set from Mad About Mini, which features an exclusive hand illustrated print, and Frankie Jones & Thomas Pie are the reason mustard has started to creep its way into Sunny’s wardrobe.

I can’t go past Seed for that little something special – with so many incredible knits and a great selection of printed leggings, I like to sneak one or two pieces home every now and then.

Bonds also came to the party for outerwear and we scooped up the cutest faux fur jacket, perfect for bundling Sunny up on our early morning walks. Cotton On Kids is also a good option for knits and jackets.

THE SHOES

Ok, so I may have a slight obsession with baby shoes. Specifically, moccasins. Sunny’s collection is a little OTT but I just can’t help myself, they are way too cute and also, practical! They’re basically like wearing slippers, right? A few faves include Hexi, Pretty Brave, Seed and Love, Luck and Wonder.

Then, I was introduced to the Pina Shoes by Donsje Amsterdam. Fleece lined and real leather, every bub needs a pair of these in their lives – totally a ‘don’t tell the hubby but I had to have them’ purchase but they’re so worth it. I wish they came in adult sizes.

THE EXTRAS

Nothing says winter like being snug as a bug when it comes to bedtime! We love the merino sleeping bags by Mokopuna and Bam and Boo bamboo and organic cotton sheets.
